Description

This class is for students who want to develop or improve their painting skills.  Beginners will learn the basic techniques of painting in oil or acrylic and more advanced students will receive advice and critique which will improve their skills with new ideas and approaches.  Work will be shared on zoom and students will learn from each other as well as from the instructor. 

Materials List Canvas or masonite panels- 9” X 12” or larger. Optional- watercolor paper, cardboard or canvas paper sheets Palette- 12” X 16” or larger. Disposable Paper palette. Plastic Palette knife/Painting knife- for mixing paints on your palette and for painting with. Brushes- #2, 4, 6, 8 hog hair bristle. Chose from 1. bright (short square) 2. flat (long square) 3. filbert (oval tip) 4. round (pointed tip) Optional- sable and synthetic brushes. Optional- rigger, fan Rags- Cut into 12” squares or paper towels. Table or Portable Easel (optional) Murphy oil soap-brush clean-up Gloves- optional but recommended Oil or Acrylic Paint- student grade OK. Suggested Colors- Cadmium Yellow Light* Yellow Ochre* Cadium Red Light* Alizarin Crimson* Dioxazine Purple or other purple Ultramarine Blue* Cerulean or Cobalt Blue* Viridian Raw Umber Burnt Sienna Ivory Black* Titanium White* *Starred colors are must-haves. Materials for Acrylics: Paper Palette preferred Plastic Palette Knives Acrylic Paint Medium in gloss or matte (optional) Acrylic Retarder to make the paint dry slowly (optional) Spray Water Bottle to keep paint moist Note: If you are a beginner you don’t need to buy any of the optional materials listed.
